Ruth Iren Holand

About us

The music and songs for the album Land of Hope was created by Ruth's piano in Norway first, and then brought to excellence by Carl Michaels keyboard in Uppsala, Sweden.

Ruth is a singer/songwriter, journalist and mother of 3, living in Råde, South-East of Norway. Her musical background is semi-professional as a freelance singer, she went from music school too rock band, blues, worship music, theater and musical producer and singer/songwriter.

Carl Michael has a master in Music, from London, Boston, and Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. He is an educated composer, arranger, pianist, director and church musician. , His background is in classical music, but also jazz and he moves in many genres, He is married to Michelle and lives in Uppsala, Sweden

Song Producer and technician

Reidar Ingvald Paasche

We could not have done this without Reidar! He saved us with his skills and dedication hundreds of times and hours! He was lead technician for the recording in Kay Irgens Medicine Studios in Hobøl, Norway ( song and soloists)

Reidar is also a skilled pianist. He used to play keyboard in the Swedish band Jerusalem), and is a part of our orchestra on concerts.

Marcus travelled with us to Prague, gathered and mixed over 1 TB with music from 6 different studios...

He is making sure that the album reach the finishing line!

Linn was the leading technician at Rixmixningsverket, Benny Anderssons studio in Stockholm, where we recorded piano, double bass and drums.

Arild is a norwegian saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist, pianist, conductor, studio musician and band leader.

Song and flugelhorn

Per Søetorp

Ruth and Per are singing duet on the song: "A God full of mercy", where Per also is playing intro on flugelhorn together with Arild Stav on flute.

Per is a Norwegian singer, musician, composer and writer.

Harald Høidahl

Harald is singing duet with Ruth on the song "YOU".

Harald is a singer , songwriter, pianist and worshipleader. He is a professor/lecturer in music in Fredrikstad, Norway

Ine Mathea Holand Grimstad

Ruth´s daughter Ine sings solo in the song "Abundantly Available" Text by Ruth and melody by Carl Michael.

Ine Mathea is a violinist and singer, after the Music gymnasium, she started playing in Østfold Symphony Orchestra.

Maximilian Aanen Owe

Maximilian (then 14 years old) sings boy soprano pieces in the song "Deliver me".

Maximilian is a talented opera singer, now at 17 years old he is persuing a career in music.

Double bass

Magnus Peterson

Magnus is our eminent bass player!

Magnus plays bass, flute and fiddle, and has played with many artists, both in jazz-clubs, churches and on big stages. Educated both in Sweden and USA. He is also a medical doctor and lives in Stocholm, Sweden.

Classical Drums

Håkan Landgren

RIP❤️

Sadly our drummer Håkan passed away before he could hear the final result of the album. But he was so enthusiastic and loved the music. He was a percussionist/drummer in the Swedish Radio orchestra for many years, and a genuis in rythm. Peace over his memory❤️

Choir

Land og Hope Choir

16 wonderful singers and warm hearted people from Uppsala/Stockholm - they are the best! Sounds fantastic and is a joy to be around!

Most of the songs on the album is arranged by Carl Michael for 4-part choir!

Bandeoneon

Belén Romano

Belén is playing the beautiful instrument Argentinian accordion: Bandeoneon on the song "Door of Hope"

In addition to play the bandoneon, Belén also is a chior leader and a singing teacher. She lives in Uppsala, Sweden

Carl Michael Bergerheim

Carl Michael is playing the grand piano (Fazioli) on the album. And conducting the orchestra and the choir. Arranged, composed , and produced! What a musician!

Czech National Symphony Orchestra

Last but NOT least: This wonderful orchestra from Prague that we were blessed to work with!

They have played some epic music ( The Harry Potter Theme, Cinderella, touring with Andrea Boccelli etc)

But they worked with us with their hearts and skills - and we are forever thankful ❤️

The vision for Land of Hope came to Ruth first and she wrote the songs by her piano, pouring her heart out.

It is amazing to see how the music and ensemble has developed over the last 6 years, and are now released into the world.
